Smart print publishers like The New York Times adapted their newspaper format already to the new Apple iPad's application. First of all because this new iBook-technology is compatible with the fee required iTunes apps.
But also, because "If you're a publisher who lives and dies by what your content looks like, you want to be talking to Apple now; any other digital distribution is going to look very last decade," wrote Yankee Group analyst Carl Howe in a blog after spending a few minutes using the tablet device.
Condé Nast and Hearst also recognised this silver lining on the horizon and showed strong interest for the apps.
